Stillness

Isn’t it true that when we most need the tools to quiet our minds, we convince ourselves we’re too busy to use them?

Yet it is only when we are in a place of peace, joy and love that we can accurately discern God’s voice amid the chaos, actually perceive our inner thoughts from the external noise and understand we don’t have be anxious about anything.

“Be still and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10, NIV

Insomnia

Have you ever had a thought about something you needed to do just as you were about to go to sleep … and you kept thinking about it and thinking about it? Like when you’re going on a trip or have some big event happening the next day and you think about an item you didn’t pack or something you forgot to do. Or maybe it’s something that has to wait until the next day. Either way, you can’t go back to sleep.

When you think of something your mind believes you’re supposed to do something, so it keeps poking. I’ve discovered that keeping a notepad close so the paper can hold onto the “thing I must not forget” allows my mind to let it go, so I can go to sleep

Lost

I am convinced that I never really lose anything. Forget? Frequently! Misplace? Often! But truly lose? Almost never!

That belief has been borne out in the recovery of countless things, to include a laptop left in a restroom, in an airport, in a different town, over a Christmas holiday when the lost and found was closed. Yikes! But I wasn’t anxious because, you know … I never really, truly lose anything!

Except thoughts. I sometimes lose thoughts. Which is why I try to write things down…

“Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.” ~ L.M. Montgomery

When the Coach Needs a Coach…

Staying in the precious, present moment is a topic I write about and speak about …and this week it’s been a topic I’ve struggled hard to BE about. And so I’m grateful for people in my life like Coach April, who was obedient to her God voice urging her to remind me to be here, now.

God deals out joy in the present, the now.” Ecclesiastes 5: 19b MSG

Everyday Values

It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.” ~ Roy E. Disney.

If you say you value integrity, SHOULDN”T you be where you say you’re going to be, when you say you’re going to be there…do what you say you’re going to do, when you say you are going to do it…you know, be accountable to yourself?

Right Now

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift from God, that’s why they call it the present.” ~  Babatunde Olatunji

This right here, right now moment is all we really have, so be in it. Embrace this moment…wallow in it…let it wash over you. Enjoy the wonder, the emotion of it…see what is there to see, experience the flow of life, feel what you are feeling.

…Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive….” Ecclesiastes 9: 7-10
