Can I Live?

I eat pretty cleanly most of the time … lots of veggies, mostly water. And because I eat cleanly most of the time, when I don’t, my body feels it pretty quickly and acutely. What I find interesting (puzzling) at those times is the judgment from others.

“I thought you didn’t drink,” if I’m drinking anything alcoholic… too much of which gives me a headache.

“I thought you ate cleanly,” if I’m enjoying a couple of bites of chocolate, or bacon…’cause who doesn’t like an occasional slice of real bacon.

I get it…it’s the stuff we’re not doing for ourselves that can lead us to compare ourselves to, compete with and criticize others.

But I also get that if I’m to share the lessons I’ve learned about leading myself, I have to be cognizant of my behavior at all times.

“People always pay more attention to how you live than to what you say.” ~ John Maxwell, Running with the Giants p.101

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging.” Matthew 7:1-3, MSG
