New Connections

One of the speakers offering tribute during my parents joint 80th birthday party was Gloria Cobb, who my Mom refers to as her “claimed child”.

Gloria has gleaned wisdom from my Mom’s experience raising five children and my Mom has acquired an adopted daughter who loves and looks after her in her adopted Orlando home.

Embracing change, changing relationship patterns, being open to new people and activities are some of the ways my parents stay engaged in life. And engaging in life is how to keep enjoying life.

Life gets sweeter when you open up from a place of peace and continue to expand your circle.” Oprah Winfrey

Inevitable Change

Our lives are flowing in Divine order in accordance with the choices and decisions we’ve made and are making. Yet we often hold on to what is familiar even though what is familiar might be suffocating what needs to grow and develop in us. We can’t open to what is if we are grasping at what was. Change is inevitable. We either voluntarily embrace it or we’re forced to accept it.

Whoever is able to cast off his skin shall not die.” Mark Nepo

Change

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn” ~Alvin Toffler.

The rate of change in the world is has gotten exponentially faster with the potential to leave us in perpetual confusion! Author Alvin Toffler described this phenomenon as Future Shock but the way to counter any shock to our systems is to embrace change from a place of stability.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Mathew 7:24-25 NIV
