Faith

I’ve been an up close and personal witness to what stepping out in faith looks like.

I’ve seen how limitless our dreams are when we understand why we are dreaming what we are dreaming…how intense our passions when we direct our energy to our purpose…how impactful our purpose when it’s in service to something other, something greater than ourselves.

But the Master said, “You don’t need more faith. There is no ‘more’ or ‘less’ in faith. If you have a bare kernel of faith, say the size of a poppy seed, you could say to this sycamore tree, ‘Go jump in the lake,’ and it would do it.”  Luke 17:6 MSG

Manifesting

You are co-creating your life with every action. Do you like what is manifesting in your life? If so, keep doing what you’re doing. If not, make different choices, choose different actions, and act intentionally to manifest something different.

What are you waiting for?

Helping…or Hurting?

I’m a helper.

Whether it’s fitness or leadership or team dynamics or logistics, when I see individuals or organizations struggle, I often want to offer my expertise. But in the gym, I learned that the “correct form” does not look the same for every body; as a mom, I’ve learned that even the best advice might be ignored if it’s unsolicited, and since becoming a coach, I understand that at our core, we have the answers to our issues.

So now, only when asked, I really try to focus on helping others discover their inner knowing.

To rescue people from the natural consequences of their behavior is to render them powerless.” ~ Henry Cloud

Freedom to Give

Have you ever received something from someone that felt like it had a string attached? It could be because the giver really didn’t want to do or give what was asked.

When we do things we don’t want to do out of a sense of obligation or even expectation of reciprocity, we sometime feel resentment. And when our expectations aren’t met and we feel some kind of way, whether we realize it or not, the recipient of our largesse feels something too…confusion.

Permission to Speak

Someone recently requested a favor of me, a favor that would have inconvenienced me. I was assured I could say NO… which I promptly did.

The giving of permission to refuse stood out not because it wasn’t required but because it reflects a reality– we often do things we don’t want to do because we give more weight to other’s feelings than our own.

But what I’ve learned as I mature is you aren’t obligated to do things that don’t serve your greatest good, you aren’t required to say yes to anything not in your best interests, and you don’t need permission to say no.

“No” is a complete sentence.” ~ Anne Lamott

World Vision

What is your vision for your world? What does the world look like when you are serving in your purpose? The world is waiting on you…what are you waiting for?

When I dare to be powerful – to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” ~ Audre Lorde

Intentional Impact

Self-awareness is scary and hard. Because once you understand the consequences of your choices, once you realize the responsibility for your life choices lie with you, once you acknowledge your role in creating your life, you have to choose to do something …or not.

You can choose to intentionally impact your life or not choose and be unintentionally be impacted by your life. Not choosing is a choice.

People can be divided into three groups. Those who make things happen, those who watch what happen, and those who wonder what happened”. ~ Anonymous

Becoming

A young adult friend of mine decided a roommate situation was not a good fit, then agreed to it anyway. She felt the pressure of trying to help a friend in a way that ended up putting strains on and almost ending the friendship.

It was a hard lesson about listening to her instincts…a tough reminder that every individual intuitively knows what is best for her and becoming who you are supposed to become takes courage.

Who you’re becoming is far more important than what you’re doing, and yet it is what you’re doing that’s determining who you’re becoming.” Hal Elrod

Golden Rule

We often want behavior from others that we are unwilling to offer. We ask for respect for our beliefs about life, but judge contrary philosophies as bizarre. We expect forgiveness for our “accidental” harmful actions and words but never let others forget that they intentionally and deliberately hurt us. We demand love but aren’t loveable.

We can’t get what we don’t give…make withdrawals where we haven’t made deposits…reap what we haven’t sown…

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Mathew 7:12

Happy

Never, ever again will you tell me it takes you to make me happy.” ~ Carly and Martina Shipp.

These are some of the lyrics from a song I recently heard called “Make Me Happy.” Now fifteen, the authors, musicians Carly and Martina Shipp, wrote the song when they were thirteen. Watch the video here!

Like a lot of the songs I discovered when I visited their website, it is a call to chose empowerment from two young people who are very clear about who gets to make that choice. And I just marveled at their ability to recognize this powerful concept…they are responsible for their own happiness.
