Lost

I am convinced that I never really lose anything. Forget? Frequently! Misplace? Often! But truly lose? Almost never!

That belief has been borne out in the recovery of countless things, to include a laptop left in a restroom, in an airport, in a different town, over a Christmas holiday when the lost and found was closed. Yikes! But I wasn’t anxious because, you know … I never really, truly lose anything!

Except thoughts. I sometimes lose thoughts. Which is why I try to write things down…

“Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.” ~ L.M. Montgomery

Limitless

What we refer to reality is basically our perception fueled by our past experience or what we interpreted from a past experience. When we filter the present through what has happened to us or how we perceived what happened to us, we often respond in ways that actually limit us. What IS real is God’s love and His plans for us…both are unlimited.

“I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”  Jeremiah 29:11 MSG

One Step…

“If I take,
Just one step,
He will do the rest…” Donald Vails

Every version of “The Hero’s Journey” story, features a scene when the hero takes one giant, scary step of faith into the unknown or battles his fear in the face of a tremendous, potentially life-ending threat. In “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, our hero is guided to a deep chasm with no visible way to get to the other side. He calls on his faith, steps out into the abyss… and on to the bridge, which magically appears underneath his foot. crusades1

That’s the kind of courage that can force us forward in the face of fear, the kind of confidence that can compel us to step into what we can’t see… the kind of conviction that we can trust what we know to be true despite evidence to the contrary.

It’s the kind of faith we’re asked to have in order to live the lives we’re called to live.
